Capital City University, Kano (CCUK), has officially announced the appointment of Engr. Prof. Sadiq Zubair Abubakar as its pioneer Vice Chancellor. The appointment, which took effect in November 2021, marks a significant milestone for the newly established institution as it begins its journey toward academic excellence.

Prof. Abubakar, a distinguished scholar and administrator, steps into the role at a critical time for the university, which is part of a new wave of private tertiary institutions approved by the Federal Government to expand educational access in Nigeria.

Capital City University was among the 20 new private universities granted approval by the Federal Government in February 2021. Following its initial approval, the institution moved swiftly through the regulatory process, receiving its official license from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in August 2021.

With the appointment of Prof. Abubakar just months later, the university has demonstrated its intent to “hit the ground running,” establishing a leadership structure designed to meet the rigorous standards of modern higher education.
